“I’ve never seen anything like these before! These are amazing!”… Another comment we hear quite often when we are out vending at a holistic expo or arts and crafts show. When we hear this comment, it confirms to us that we truly do offer unique candles, and nine times out of ten, people are referring to the symbols molded into our tea lights.
Symbols are powerful things! You cannot live in today’s society without coming into contact with at least a few hundred symbols every single day. We see them on bill boards, television, in our work place, hospitals, road signs, virtually everywhere you look. Some warn us of danger, some give us direction, some help us understand instructions. The overwhelming majority of them try to sell us something, and some tell a story. But all inherently are there for one reason: to get our attention, grab our focus, and take action in one way or another.
If you see a red octagon along the side of the road, you know, without any words, what you are supposed to do. In the same way, symbols can give you focus so that you can amplify your intent into the candles, releasing that energy into the universe as the candles burn. You see, the energies in the candles, and the intent with which they are made are important, but the MOST important thing is that they have to mean something to the person using them. What better way to convey meaning than to add symbols?
We managed to find some molds that we liked on the internet. Four well-made simple molds of symbols associated with magick: the pentacle, the triple moon, the triquetra, and the triskelion. The reason? They caught OUR attention! Later, we also found molds for bath soaps that we re-worked a bit containing the symbols for the chakras. Why did we start making those? Again, they caught our attention!
We then started looking for molds that would convey the meanings of the rest of our candles. Unfortunately, we came up empty handed. To make a long story short, we had to make all of them ourselves. We started with finding the symbols. The we converted them into CAD files, and 3D printed them. Finally, we had to find the right material to create the molds. After a long drawn out process over the course of several months, we finally produced something that we could be proud of. Candles with simple, easy to remember geometric symbols to convey the meaning of each candle.
The symbols you’ll find on our tea light candles are the ancient alchemy symbols. They have been used for generations to represent a specific meaning. We use the symbols for the ruling planets for our “days of the week” candles, the symbols for the zodiac signs for our astral candles, the horned god and triple moon symbols for our God and Goddess candles, and finally the alchemy symbols for the elements on our elemental candles. All of which we made from scratch… including the molds. We make the molds with the same intent and energy as the candles that are made from them.
The positive energy and intent that we put into our candles while making them, and the symbolism added to our tea lights, give you two powerful tools at your disposal while using our candles for your own magickal work. But we don’t stop there! In the next post, we’ll focus on the colors we use, and why we chose them. Check out our tea light candles in our shop, and remember you can start with our candles, but the energy and intent you add make all the difference!
