We’ve now covered the obvious days (Sunday – Sun, Monday – Moon), so what’s up with Tuesday? Tuesday is named for Tiu, the Anglo-Saxon name for Tyr, the Norse god of war. Thus, Tuesday is ruled by the planet Mars, named for the Roman god of war.
Although “war” seems to have a negative connotation, we can use the energy of Tuesday and the planetary association with Mars in positive ways. When we think of the warrior, images of strength, protection, and loyalty come to mind. Let the energy of Tuesday work for you. Use it to clear your path of obstacles that have been holding you back, focus on increasing your strength (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually). Petition for protection from anything that seeks to cause you harm. Use the energy to seek out true and loyal relationships. Finally, use it to start resolving any conflicts in your life.
With the intense energy of the day, this could also be a good day for starting something new. Bring the strength and intensity to bear for determination in your new undertaking. Warriors are brave and face challenges head-on. Bolster your courage, and take on those challenges that you may have been avoiding.
In Tarot, the Ace of Swords embodies these concepts. The hand bearing an upright sword coming out of the cloud represents divine energy coming to bear to help you fight your battles. It indicates new beginnings, and best of all, indicates that you will be victorious!
We infuse each of our Tuesday day of the week candles with all of these aspects. Our candles are dipped or molded with red wax to represent the color of the day and its ruling planet of Mars. To the tealights, we add the alchemical symbol for Mars to the top of the candle for an extra boost.
Lighting one of our Tuesday day of the week candles can help bring this energy to bear for you. Add one to your altar on Tuesday as a petition. Light one to help you to focus on the energy of the day. Use one to add an extra boost when performing your magickal works on Tuesday.
You can find Tuesday taper candle pairs, and our Day of the Week tealight sets (including one tealight for each day of the week) in our shop on our website www.magickalcandlez.com.
